CPS Powers Up Public "Dashboard"

Cincinnati Public Schools today launches the "Building Futures Dashboard," a new web-based communication tool that will give parents and community members unprecedented instant access to demographic, academic, and financial information about the district and its 58 schools.

"The dashboard is part of our commitment to become a more transparent organization by providing updated information on an ongoing basis. Like the guages on the dashboard of a car, it provides vital data about CPS at a glance. We understand that our schools belong to the community, and we believe this new tool will help the community stay in better touch with our district's progress."
-Interim Superintendant Mary Ronan

The development of this public dashboard was an outgrowth of an internal dashboard that has been used by CPS to guide progress for five years. An innovative move among school districts nationwide, CPS' development of the dashboard was supported as part of the work of the Performance Management Implementation Team. This team is a group of CPS staff and external partners convened by Strive to implement recommendations from the 2007 review of CPS central operations by McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm.
